FACTS AND STATS OF GUN VIOLENCE

73%

OF HOMICIDES IN AMERICA WERE GUN-RELATED

120.5 FIREARMS PER 100 FAMILIES IN THE U.S.

In 2015, 2,824 children (0-19) died by gunshot and another 13,723 were injured.

Should America change their gun laws? This is the question of the decade. Gun control is one of the main political issues in America today. Gun control does not mean that the government will take all guns away, it simply means the more powerful guns won't be accessible. It would also put more strict restrictions on who is allowed to purchase guns. An idea that citizens are talking about is having a monitor on all guns that are bought. Japan and Great Britain implemented that law and facts show that it leads to low rates of gun violence. There should also be a system put in place where you screen out individuals who have a mental illness or criminal history.
