GUNS IN SCHOOLS

FACTS AND STATS

The U.S. has had 1,316 school shootings since 1970

93% of school shootings are planned before the attack.

In 4 out of 5 school shootings, at least one other person had knowledge of the attacker’s plan but failed to report it.

Guns used in about 68% of gun-related incidents at schools were taken from the home, a friend or a relative.

What mother would drop their kid off at school knowing they might not be safe there? This country needs meaningful, important ideas to keep schools safe. These ideas include improving school security and keeping guns out of peoples hands who shouldn't have them. One argument some people use is they believe teachers should be armed. I don't believe in this because we can't expect a non-trained professional to act during a situation of such duress. America's gun violence epidemic, has transferred into American schools. The failure of our government and leadership has affected millions of American children. We must figure out how to make American students feel safe. Students must have a safe environments to learn, live, and most importantly, grow.
